Despite the fact that, the pandemic thwarted everyone’s plans, especially if we are talking about earnings plans. Both employers and employees have faced a financial trap. However, even in such difficult times, recruitment is still going on!In 2020, over 28,000 job offers were published on the europa.jobs portal. Nowadays, fast and effective recruitment is essential. That is why, it was decided to help our potential and current employers in increasing the effectiveness of the published job offers. Below is a list of tips on how to write an effective job advertisement.

How to write an effective job advertisement?

  1.  A  proper job title is essential – make sure that the title of the offer is received in the best possible way and make a good first impression.
  2. Take into account the needs of the candidates – use frequently searched phrases: work without a language, work for couples, etc.
  3. Fill in the additional information – the better the offer is described and the more information it contains, the easier it will be for the candidates to apply.
  4. Punctuation proves your professionalism … – an advertisement written quickly, lowers your credibility and discourages candidates from applying.

… but don’t be afraid to stand out! – use the emoticons and awards available on the portal – don’t let the competitor get ahead of you!

A proper job title is essential in job advertisment

The job offer title should always include the name of the position. This is your first contact with a potential employee – he must know that the offer is aimed at him. To encourage him to read the entire content of the offer, it is worth spending some time choosing the best words.

You can add information, e.g. about:

  •  rate
  • accommodation
  •  the specific skills required.

However, it is not worth writing „great offer” – such a message means nothing to the candidate.

Remember! The first impression is the most important! There are many job titles with the same job description and similar requirements.

Regardless of the name of your proposed job, the easiest way is to choose a name that is popular and recognizable by potential candidates. A System support specialist ‘pick by voice’ sounds great, but candidates search for their future position using phrases such as work for a warehouse worker – it’s worth remembering!

Take into account the needs of the candidates

The upcoming period of seasonal trips is associated with greater activity of your potential employees, but also of your competitors. In order to stand out from the crowd, you must respond to the specific needs of the candidates – that is, use appropriate phrases in the title of the offer and in the content. All this so that the employee can search for your offer.

We recommend that you include frequently searched phrases:
  • work for couples
  • for women
  • without language knowledge
  • without experience
  • seasonal work
  • work on vacation

In addition, individual European countries are introducing new entry rules overnight. This is why candidates pay particular attention to the conditions of entry to the destination country.

Include in the advertisement information, among others about:
  • possible quarantine
  • whether the employer provides accommodation for the duration of home quarantine
  • the possibility of doing a Covid-19 test and whether the employer pays the associated costs

If, after the publication of the announcement, there were changes in the rules for entering the country, remember to update the content. On our portal you can edit the content of your advertisement at any time.

If you employ foreigners in your company, take advantage of the free automatic translation of the offer, which is available on our portal. This will allow you to reach hundreds of additional candidates. Currently, the advertisement can be translated into the following languages:

  • English
  • German
  • Romanian
  • Ukrainian
  • Russian

Complete the additional information in job advertisment

On europa.jobs, candidates have also the possibilities to filter job offers, based on additional information:

  • without experience
  • without language knowledge
  • no CV required

The better the offer is described and the more information it contains, the easier it will be for candidates to find the one, which interests them the most. Often, candidates skip offers that do not have a salary visible on the list of offers, do not check whether it is included in the offer. So remember to fill in all the fields of the form.

Knowledge of the language

Not being truthful may be used to attract candidates to apply, but it is certainly not good for successful recruiting. If the content in your job offer requires the candidate to have “basic knowledge of the language”, do not add the job to the “no language” category. Do you know that… by selecting the required language, you can choose from several options? So if both German and English are used in your workplace, you should select both.
On our portal, there is also a possibility of posting a video of the offer. Announcements with an attached video are additionally highlighted. It is always an additional element that attracts the attention of Candidates. And in the case of urgent recruitment, we recommend that you check the appropriate box when adding an advertisement on europa.jobs. Then it will also be additionally extracted on the list of offers.

Job advertisement – Punctuation proves your professionalism

You don’t like getting CVs with errors, written quickly and sloppy, right? You think that the candidate does not take the offer seriously and has no respect for you as a future employer. In the same way candidates look at your job offers. If the advertisement does not contain basic information about the working conditions, the applicant may think that you want to cheat him.
In addition, the lack of correct punctuation and Polish characters makes reading much more difficult and may discourage the future employee from reading the offer until the end. It’s worth spending an additional 3 minutes to make sure that the candidate finds what he is looking for in a simple and transparent way, and that all information is consistent.

Remember! When a candidate becomes interested in your advertisement, he will look for information on how to contact you. Shorten the recruitment process and be sure to write:·  Apart from CV, you expect additional documents (e.g. documents confirming qualifications or a CV in a foreign language)

  • when the deadline for submitting the application expires
  • how and with whom you will contact
  • GDPR clause (especially if you have your own)

… but don’t be afraid to stand out!
In the title of the advertisement and in the content, you can insert emoticons! ✅ They definitely attract the attention of the candidates. You can easily copy emoticons, for example from Piliapp.com.
