It is a small country located in Western Europe, belonging to the EU. In addition, it is part of the alliance of three monarchies, the so-called Benelux (together with the Netherlands and Belgium).

The country has three official languages ​​- Luxembourgish, French and German.

A person with knowledge of the Luxembourgish language is a rarity, however, if you know one of the other two languages ​​in this country or English – finding a job should not be a problem!

In Luxembourg the currency used is euro, which also encourages economic migrants to leave.

Registration obligation – reporting the stay in Luxembourg

Every person, regardless of their nationality, is obliged to register with the administrative office (Bureau de la population) of the municipality in which they live. To do this, you must report to the office in person, and in special cases it can be done by:

  • spouse or partner
  • guardian or trustee
  • legal or ad hoc administrator
  • special representative

In order to stay and work in Luxembourg for more than 3 months, the following documents must be presented:

  1. A valid passport or ID card.
  2. Employment contract or other document confirming employment or self-employment.
  3. Certificate from the bank that you have sufficient funds to support yourself.
  4. Health insurance.

Registration procedure for hired employees

If you are employed by a Luxembourg employer, it is your responsibility to report your stay before the expiry of 3 months.

At the administrative office assigned to your municipality, you will be asked for the following documents:

  • a copy of a valid ID card or passport
  • an employment contract (permanent, fixed-term or temporary) in accordance with the Luxembourg employment law, dated and signed by both parties, or a commitment to get employed, dated and signed by the prospective employer.

After 5 years of a permanent stay and working in Luxembourg, it is possible to apply for the so-called permanent residence, which is issued indefinitely.
