Minimum wages in Ireland 2023
The ‘Minimum Wage’ on the Green Island was increased on January 1, 2023, and currently is EUR 11.30 gross per hour. The minimum monthly salary is EUR 1910 gross.

Lower rates for younger people
Until March 4, 2019, the minimum wage in Ireland varied depending not only on the age of the worker, but also his work experience. Currently, when calculating the minimum wage, only the age of the employee is taken into account:
- Under 18 years old – EUR 7.91 gross/hour
- 18 years old – EUR 9.04 gross/hour
- 19 years old – EUR 10.17 gross/hour
- From the age of 20 – EUR 11.30 gross/hour
Living Wage
Apart from the minimum wage, in Ireland, there has so far functioned the so-called ‘Living wage’, which allows for a dignified life without sacrifices. Whereas, for the time being, the Irish government has given up setting this rate. And from 2026, the minimum rate should be compared to the recommended rate and will be at least 60% of average annual earnings.
